Players begin the game by putting in two mandatory bets, called blinds, into the pot, or “pot.” Once all players have their 2 hole cards, the dealer will deal them 1 more card face up. This is called the turn, and there will be a new round of betting that starts with the player to the left of the button.
If you have a good poker hand, you can raise the amount of money that is in the pot by saying “raise.” The other players will then choose to call your raised bet or fold. If they call your raise, then the pot will grow and you may end up winning the game!
A high-card poker hand is a good way to build your bankroll. However, you should also study other poker games to increase your chances of winning. The key is to bet aggressively in the early stages of the game, so that other players will think twice about calling your raises or raising their own.
